I was given several books to read. It is easy, I guess, to say "So sorry" and hand the person a book.
But the only book which I have been able to read is "Levels of Life". All that I feel seems to have been expressed including those burdensome, negative thoughts, the envy of others who have not crossed the tropic of grief and the bitterness. You have to get through the days pretending to be 'OK', to have 'accepted'. Grief is indeed an embarrassment; you remind everyone of their own mortality. Those awful phrases 'get over it', 'move forward' when all you want is to go back, to go back when life was fun.
Thank you so much, Julian Barnes, for writing this book. I like to write myself but in 3 years I have managed to pen only one sentence. It is too painful. So thank you so much for writing this for those of us who have passed into this other world.

Anything is better than lies and deceit! So you could be sad but at least stop being a liar,a deceiver!!!!! I see no person with serious intentions; I see someone whose intention is to amuse her damaged EGO. But a FOOL with a heart and no sense is just UNHAPPY as a FOOL with sense and no heart...  And I am neither a FOOL nor UNHAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!   |

I was having tea with Hans Hitler when I got your tweet. You are absolutely right dear! C’EST GROSSIER!! Poor Anna Karenina.. If I remember well Anna was one of the many protagonists in Dostoyevsky’s Life. Mon père,who knew sir Dostoyevsky, was telling me that he was a very modest,humble man. Sir Dostoyevsky kept saying that ‘ the cleverest of all is the man who calls himself a fool at least once a month’. So who is arrogant Leo? I personally think that it’s either LEO SIROTA or LEO ORNSTEIN. Actuellement, I’d go for LEO ORNSTEIN. Don’t you remember how obsessed and manipulative he could get from time to time?
